Toyota Announces New Teamwork Ad Campaign for 2016 Olympics

Today, Toyota announced the launch of a new teamwork-centered ad campaign to coincide with the start of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Starring Team Toyota athletes Summer Sanders and Amy Purdy, the campaign aims to encourage people to come together in the spirit of friendship and fair play.

The campaign, which will include a mix of outdoor advertising as well as social media elements, will kick off with a 60-second TV spot during NBC’s broadcast of the Opening Ceremonies. The commercial will include a call to action that asks viewers to film and upload videos of people joining hands. For ever person that uploads a video with the hashtag #LetsJoinHands, Toyota will donate $20 to the United Way, up to a total of $250,000. A 90-second online-exclusive version of the video can be seen on Toyota’s YouTube channel.

“Teamwork is ingrained in Toyota’s DNA – it’s a founding principle,” said Jack Hollis, group vice president of marketing, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. “We believe, as our founder did, in the ‘power of togetherness’ and athletics is an amazing example of the power of teamwork. While we do not compete at the highest levels of sport on the playing field, we celebrate the spirit of collaboration every day, whether it is within the walls of Toyota, or in our interaction with our guests.”
